Globoidal indexing cam has many excellent properties, widely used in NC tool changingmanipulator, automatic production line and so on. But due to its complicated structure itserror test and control is restrict its wide application.In this paper, the relationship beweenmachining error and globoidal cam’s geometry error were researched, each Part’s geometryerror’s effects on the movement precision were studied. The method to allot tolerance forgloboidal cam machine were discussed. Using three coordinate measuring machine measuredthe error of globoidal cam’s profile error and screw line error. Design and developed a set ofmotion precision test system for globoidal cam. A solution for the globoidal cam motionprecision measurement problem were provided.The main content of this paper as follows:1. This paper summarized analysis the processing error of globoidal cam, and based onthe factor of processing error established the meshing surface equation of globoidal camwith error;2. Based on the surface equation of globoidal cam with error using differential matrix m-ethod studied the relationship between processing factors and the the geometry error of Glob-oidal cam;3. Analysis the relationship between geometric error factors of globoid cam’s and itsmotion precision;4. The tolerance allocation problem of globoidal cam were discussed, a accuracyallocation method for Globoidal cam were provided;5. Using three coordinate measuring machine measured the profile error and screw errorof the globoidal cam characteristic line error value, and deduced the error’s influence onmotion precision;6. Based on the virtual instrument technology designed a set of motion precision testexperimental device for globoidal cam.
