Wind environment includes two interrelated parts, outdoor’s and indoor’s. On one hand, the quality of wind environment around the buildings has significant effects on pedestrian comfort even safety. Wind environment around buildings has a very complicated relationship with the shape dimensions of the buildings and relative position between the buildings, as well as the landform around. In this paper, it is aimed at simulate and analyze the interaction between the high-rise building and the residential quarter on the pedestrian level wind environment through a series of wind tunnel tests. In the study of how the high-rise building produce an effect on the pedestrian level wind environment around the residential quarter, transverse passages, vertical passages, and the corner regions around the residential quarter become the objects of study. Through changing the three parameters:high-rise building’s height, height-separation-ratios and width-ratios, compare the changes of average wind speed ratio, maximum wind speed ratio, and the coefficient of variation of the wind speed ratio, evaluate the changes of the pedestrian level wind environment around the residential quarter, and draw a conclusion about the effect of three parameters to the pedestrian level wind environment around the residential quarter. The results show that the increase height of the high-rise building created adverse effects on the pedestrian level wind environment around the residential quarter. While if the height-separation-ratios less than two, the pedestrian level wind environment around the residential quarter stays at a good level. A larger width-ratio leads to a larger variation of the wind speed ratio during different height-separation-ratios.In the study of how the residential quarter produce an effect on the pedestrian level wind environment around the high-rise building, the corner regions, the front regions, the back regions and the side regions around the high-rise building become the objects of study. Through changing the three parameters:high-rise building’s height, height-separation-ratios and width-ratios, compare the changes of average wind speed ratio, maximum wind speed ratio, and the coefficient of variation of the wind speed ratio, evaluate the changes of the pedestrian level wind environment around the high-rise building, and draw a conclusion about the effect of three parameters to the pedestrian level wind environment around the residential quarter. The results show that the increase height of the high-rise building created adverse effects on the pedestrian level wind environment around the high-rise building. When the height-separation-ratios are around0.52, the pedestrian level wind environment around the high-rise building stays at a good level.
