Permanent magnet synchronous motor with its small size, energy saving, good stability,low running noise, has been widely used on the elevator traction system. The motor testsystem is the most common way to test motor condition. However, the traditional motor testplatform has many disadvantages and has been unable to meet the diverse needs of themodern industry. Virtual Instrument is the outcome of the modern testing technology andcomputer technology integrated. It not only has all the features of traditional instrument, butalso can realize on-line monitoring and remote control, open sharing of resources and meet avariety of test requirements. Virtual instrument software LabVIEW has characteristics ofpowerful, flexible operation, development speed. It is advantageous to the development offriendly interface, intelligent, automation of motor test platform.This paper proposes to develop the PMSM traction machine test platform based onLabVIEW. First, introduces the structure and working principle of elevator’s traction system,and then analysis the elevator’s traction system load and torque ripple characteristics based onPMSM elevator traction system. According to the characteristics of the permanent magnetsynchronous traction machine, a set of PMSM test system scheme based on LabVIEW hasbeen designed. The scheme includes the design of the construction of the hardware platformand software platform. In the hardware test platform, tested motor and load motor coaxialconnected, respectively by a frequency converter to drive. Multi-function data acquisitioncard is used to collect the motor parameters in the process of test, and then transmitted data tothe computer. Software interface can display various performance parameters of the motorand monitor the current and voltage waveform. It can also save the data online, automaticgeneration of test reports.Experimental results show that motor test platform based on LabVIEW can realize motorload characteristics test and analysis torque ripple, test precision conform to the requirements.The automated test system can realize the automatic processing of data and curve, andautomatically generate the test report. The motor test system based on LabVIEW is simpleoperation, easy to use, good stability and high accuracy. It has great significance to accurateanalysis of the performance of the permanent magnet synchronous traction machine, improvetest efficiency and product quality.
