The bogie technology represents one of the core technologies of the high-speed railway system. It directly affects the operational security, reliability and comfort. In addition, the assembly process of the bogie is one of the most important factors that determine the development cycle and cost of a high-speed railway system. Hence, a good detachability play an important role in improving the quality and reliability, reducing the development cost, shortening the development cycle, and promoting the market competitiveness of the bogie products.This thesis, using the bogie of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) as the research object, studied the designing and simulation of its virtual assembly process, and the detachable technology of the bogies. The following paragraphs exhibits the primary research topics:1) In regard of the complexity of assembly-disassembly process of the bogie, this thesis integrated three different assembly design methods-design for concurrent engineering, function-based design, and design for reconfiguration to generate a new multifaceted, multidisciplinary virtual assembly modeling method for the development of new bogie products. This method will produce three facets of models of bogie assembly process:skeleton model, bounding volume model, and detailed model.2) Based on the ergonomic principles, a toolkit to evaluate the detachability of a bogie was developed. This toolkit could be used to analyze various factors and their corresponding criteria and realization. Utilizing the integrated fuzzy evaluation method, a two-stage integrated fuzzy evaluation model was established. Then, the model was applied to evaluate several suspension system disassembly.3) Based on the Model Based Definition (MBD) technology and the skeleton model three MBD models of the bogie was defined:the skeleton model, the bounding volume model, and the detailed model. Further, based on the detailed MBD model of the bogie, the MBD-based bogie assembly process was analyzed, and the datasets of MBD-based bogie assembly process were defined, and the MBD-based assembly process was modeled.4) DELMIA was used to model and simulate the MBD-based bogie assembly process. Finally, this thesis constituted the concept and detailed designs of the bogie detachability analysis and ergonomic evaluation of the bogie detachability, and then realized the design-for-assembly (DFA) based optimization of bogie design.To sum up, MBD technology and ergonomics evaluation are applied in the process of virtual assembly and detachability of bogie.
