The digital traction substation has been rapidly growing by the widespread application of circuit breaker intelligent terminal and the merging unit, and application of communication network technology has become a way of process level network of information sharing and interaction. The health state of the communication network will directly affect the communication quality of the whole substation and even may lead to the fatal accidents of the traction power system. Therefore, recording and analysing of the message software in the paper has an important significance to recording and analyzing some major messages of process level network.According to the detailed analysis of the messages, it is convenient to locate the cause of the events, and provide evidence for the diagnostics accident and restore the fault site.Firstly, a brief introduction of the digital traction substation system is given in this paper, and aiming at the typical digital traction substation, the process layer network structure and the merging unit and the merging of intelligent unit of main data source are introduced. Then the software overall design.demand analysis and development environment are described. And then the IEC61850standard, the standard features and key technologies of the message are introduced. At last, a detailed introduction about Transmission model, Message protocol. Service mapping, ASN.1Abstract Syntax Notation of the sampled value messages and GOOSE messages are given, which provide a good foundation for the software design in the next chapter.Secondly, the overall structure of the software function design is proposed in this paper, and is divided the software into several modules including packets capture, storage, message parsing, historical data retrieval, offline message alarm,messages processing and so on. Based on Windows platform, MFC of Visual C++6.0is used to design Interface and combined with programming to realize the previous and modules. Winpcap technology, Multi-threading technology. Data storage, the ASN.1BER coding rules are intergrated together to realize the design of each module.Finally, the software modules are designed and verified by the simulation test tool. Compared with Wireshark, the test results demonstrate that the proposed message recording and analysing software is able to realize the correspondly functions, and provide a friendly interface that could easily to operate message recording analysis and diagnostic tools on line or offline for digital traction substation process level network.
