With the development of society, reliable, steady, uninterrupted power supply plays an important role in human life and production, while substation is provided with the function of power transmission, voltage conversion, and it is highly protected to guarantee power grid working orderly. Most faults in substation will performance a temperature rising. At this stage, infrared point thermometer as the mainly measure is used in substation temperature detection. But detecting the temperature by this method may appear some situation such as missing measuring or error measuring, which will make it unable to discover the hidden safety trouble in equipment promptly. So to design a reliable, safe, stable device contacts temperature monitoring system has practical significance in safety production of substation and reliable, stable operation of power grid. The system can detect the temperature of those contacts often having problems real-timely. Once the temperature of contactor increased, the monitoring system will offer early warning fast and efficiently. And it will help workers in substation to find out the hidden dangers in equipment.The sensor technology, computer technology, modern communication technology are integrated in this system, by the way of acquisition node, concentrator, PC three layer network architecture of the substation to achieve the design of the primary device contactor temperature monitoring system. At acquisition node the temperature sensor as the way of tight to be mounted on the primary electric equipment such as circuit breaker close, cable, isolating switch, contactor, bus connection contactor and so on to get real-time collection of temperature data, After processing by the embedded chip the temperature data will be uploaded to the substation concentrator wirelessly, Node is powered by batteries and when it doesn’t send data,the node will be in sleep state; Concentrator receives the temperature data from the acquisition node and will effectively process and then display it on the LCD screen, The corresponding results will be send to the host computer monitoring software through the serial port, By comparing the acquisition value and the set temperature thresholds the concentrator will drive the buzzer to give warning; PC monitor the software will storage the received temperature data, and the node temperature status will be displayed in real-time, It also generates dynamic curve and the various required reports, When the temperature is abnormal, the visual and auditory dual alarm will remind personnel on duty substation. By using the standard of IEEE802.15.4to transfer temperature data from acquisition node to concentrator, and the concentrator to PC by serial communication. The system can also be centralized online monitoring for substation of primary electric equipment contactor, which improves the accuracy of temperature detection, makes the equipment operate in the range of safe, reliable, so as to improve the rate of the equipment running.Compared with the traditional measuring methods, it reduces the personnel’s work burden of duty in substation, and make the duty personnel can promptly discover the hidden safety trouble in the substation equipment, and the repair and maintenance personnel will be informed efficiently, achieving the purposes of the safe operation, timely maintenance, easy maintenance and providing reference for the study of substation to the intelligent direction.
