With the continuous adjustment and improvement of national energy, people nowadayspay closer attention to the natural gas. It is predicted that by2015, China’s natural gas con-sumption will be accounted for8%to10%ratio of primary energy consumption. The scholarhas predicted that by2020, china’s nature gas consumption will reach more than3100billioncubic meters, by that time the pipeline network system of city will be more intricacy.Bearing capacity of city gas pipeline network refers to the condition in a region thatwithout gas pipeline destruction, the biggest supporting gas ability which gas pipeline canprovide to the city, that reflects the relationship between supply and demand. Many factorswill have an influence on the bearing capacity of gas pipeline, mainly including the facilitiesability; working condition of hydraulic level, the accident rate, leakage rate, network opera-tions action radius, operation and management level, etc. According to the analytic hierarchyprocess and expert advice, the author built a set of new evaluation system of bearing capacity,established the evaluation model, and also presented a scoring guideline. Timely and accu-rately evaluation for the region’s gas and its facilities bearing capacity looks extremely nec-essary, in order to provide the basis data for city managers to make assessment decision.A large city natural gas pipeline network has been formed by high pressure A and B,sub-high pressure, medium pressure and low pressure composition of the main structure withcircular and radial. Due to gas network classification system is adopted, the step-downtransport into the city center distance is mainly for the medium pressure network, therefore,sub-high pressure A-medium pressure voltage and the medium pressure network has beentaken as the research object, many planning elements in space and time has been combined,such as the city gas development situation and the network architecture, the size of the cityconstruction development, population size, gas as well as policy etc. with the aid of the GISsystem, network based data and expert evaluation, according to the evaluation model, gasnetwork comprehensive scores and bearing level of every engineering division is obtained;finally gave the strategy about the bearing capacity of gas pipe network.The research about bearing capacity of city natural gas pipeline network is of importantguiding significance for carrying on the scientific and effective planning, design, constructionand operation management.
