Research On The Directiveness And Identification Of Subway Sign System

In this paper the elements of subway sign system are analyzed on the base of detailed researches and investigations in several cities in our country and other countries .How to design a public sign system is discusses in this paper. The result of this research will contribute to the design of subway sign system in our country.The first part discusses how the subway sign system can meet the passengers’needs, and how to get to their destinations efficient and safely. This part through plenty of examples focuses on how to meet these needs from different theories, such as vision, human engineering, hearing and touch ,so that a feasible mode could be found .Based on the first part, second part mainly deals with what kind of sign system can meet passengers’need of comforting. In order to make the access to the facilities at the subway station, we have to provide them with a familiar, friendly and efficient system.The third part explores how subway sign system can express its cultural characteristies, subway is the window of a city and the sign system is the link that passes on information between and the city, perfecting the visual system enables passengers to feel a city’s culture and tradition.
