Objective:To study the survival of fascia lata wrapped-diced concha cartilage graft in healthy rabbits, and to evaluate the clinical application of Deep temporal fascia-wrapped diced concha cartilage in rhinoplasty.Methods:6rabbits at the age of six weeks. Each of them ear cartilage near the auditory faculty was harvested, and divided into three segments at the size, then weighed in recorded and marked Group A, Group B, Group C.Group A keep intact, Group B and C separately diced into0.5-1.0mm*0.5-1.0mm, diced cartilage in Group C wrapped in fascia lata femoris. Three groups of graft separately buried under the skin of the back in rabbits. Two month later, three different groups of cartilages were took out and removed the fascia or fibrous-like tissues of the cartilage grafts. The cartilage of the three groups were weighed and recorded again. The morphology, weight and histology of cartilage in three group was examined. For the clinical application, during the period December2012to march2013,15patients who adopted fascia-wrapped diced cartilage in nasal dorsal agumention were followed up, the resorption of the composite grafts were evaluated. Results:The weight of fascia-wrapped diced cartilage without apparent change(P>0.05). Histological examination demonstrated good graft viability, mild inflammatory cell infiltration and fibrosis. Conclusion:There is no apparently distortion and absorbtion of fascia-wrapped diced concha cartilage in rabbits, and with high utilization rate of cartilage and good moulding result, this composite graft is a selection for nasal dorsum rhinoplasty, especially suitable for patients who don’t want to use prosthetic or cartilage filling.
