In recent years, due to the increasing number of foreign learnersattending Chinese short-term courses, compiling teaching materials forChinese short-term courses has become a hotspot. Since the21st century,there have been a dozen sets of comprehensive Chinese teaching materialsfor short-term courses. After sifting, Chinese in10Days was chosen asthe research object for this thesis.Chinese in10Days, belonging to the Commercial Press PracticalShort-term Chinese Language Textbook Series, was edited by Professor YangHuiyuan. This set of textbooks have now been put into use in the Collegeof Intensive Chinese Training of Beijing Language and Culture Universityf. There are a number of worthwhile areas to study in these textbooks.This thesis examines Chinese in10Days from vocabulary, texts, grammarand exercise synthetically and systematically. On the basis of detailedstatistics, this thesis tries to present the outlook of Chinese in10Daysclearly and objectively. At the same time, the features and shortcomingsof these textbooks are analyzed, too. Finally, this thesis combines theresults of previous researches to provide suggestions on the shortcomingsof Chinese in10Days, and gives guidelines for revising this set oftextbooks as well as for compiling similar kinds of teaching materialsin the following years.
