The interpretation of new words in the teaching materials occupies a crucial position in the course teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.The accuracy of the interpretation plays a quite supporting role for both the studying of language learners and the teaching.Published by Beijing Language and Culture University,short-term Spoken Chinese is a teaching material which is the representative of the teaching Chinese as Foreign language.It has been widely used and deeply carried on in China and overseas.Thus this thesis considers the interpretation of new words in the book Short-term spoken Chinese(elementary)as the research object to investigate and research.The textbook is mainly aimed at the use of Chinese primary learners,in order to sum up the rules of teaching materials on the basis of the combination of practical classroom research results,to better use it.The concrete content arranges as follows:Firstly,Introduction is which including the purpose,the significance,the object,status quo,the theory and the method for the research.The purpose and significance of the study are from the perspective of the importance of the translation of quotations in the preparation of teaching materials for foreign languages.The research status is from the two aspects of vocabulary teaching and biology of oral English,Theory researches include context theory and dictionary interpretation theory.Chapter 1 includes the distributing situation of new words and the analysis of interpretation for new words.The author inspects the general situation of new words and interpretation for new words in the book Short-term Spoken Chinese(elementary).The inspection of general situation of new words is from two aspects: description of the situation and the description of the interpretation.The first aspect is analyzed based on the amount of new words and the selected scope of new words,the second aspect is analyzed based on the mode of interpretation,the relationship between interpreted word and interpreting word and the selection of the meaning item.Chapter 2 includes effect investigation of interpretation and problem analysis,based on the interview and survey with teachers and students using the book.According to the analysis of these problems,the author obtains problems in actual use.The first is a concise description of the survey design;Secondly,the classroom records of the instructors and the teachers' visits and questionnaires were analyzed to analyze the problems that teachers appeared in the classroom.Then,the teaching effect of the students was described and the questionnaire was analyzed.The students were analyzed the problem.Chapter 3 includes problems emerged in the book and the improving strategy about interpretation of new words.This chapter is based on the analysis and extraction of the chapter 1 and the chapter 2 on the basis of the analysis of the problems of the textbook.The main problem is the use of synonyms in the interpretation and grammatical interpretation of the new words.And put forward the corresponding improvement strategy for the specific problem.At last,this thesis summarizes the main content,new findings and limitations in the conclusion section.
