| As one of the latest teaching theories of western educational psychology, the Constructivist Theory provides us an important and new view for our in-depthunderstanding of teaching and learning. Constructivism advocates "a student-centeredlearning under the guidance of teachers". They agues that knowledge is not taught bythe teachers, but is acquired in a certain situation, that is, in the social and culturalbackground, through the Construction of Meanings by using the necessary materialsfor study, with the help by others (including teachers and learning partners). Theystress to create a variety of real language environments for the students, and pay muchattention to training the students' actual ability of using the language. Its theory hasgreat inspiring and guiding significance in organizing teaching and compilingteaching materials. This dissertation selects four short-term basic Spoken Chinese textbooks as thestudy object, trying to make statistics and analyses, with the concepts on knowledge, study, teaching and teachers-and-students which are more mature and rational in theConstructivist Theory, of the teaching materials' Construction content, such asfunctional items, vocabulary, language points. The paper makes specific analyses ofthe Construction Environment that provides by the teaching materials, such as thesituation designs (communicative roles, the creation forms, etc.) and exercises designs(practice types, functions, effectiveness, etc.).It also sums up the features of everymaterial, points out the problems that still exist and also what we can learn from, withthe intention of discussing the principles and methods to compile basic Spokentextbooks both beneficial to the students' meaning construction and to teachers'guidance. And it gives also some suggestions that are suitable with the developmentof the times, meet the demands of the foreign students, and the learning law for a newgeneration oral teaching materials. An ideal textbook should be made for the students, reduce the pain and the contradiction caused by the switch of language structuresfrom the original language to the target language, and build up their interest in study. |
