The individual life can be more fulfilled with fine arts education; fine arts education thus should emphasize fulfillment of the life. The mission of this education is not from outer requirements, instead from the roots of life. The individual life oriented education is deeply rooted in the culture structure, and human beings never stop this cultural delivery. However reflecting on the history of fine arts education, we see disconnection between it and life values. In a world where pragmatism and utilitarianism prevails, fine arts education tends to be ethereal. How fine arts education shakes off theorization and utilitarianism appears compelling for fine arts educators to realize its values. The current fine arts education is diversified and typified by tendencies of individualism, emotion, intelligence, and technical exemplification. Whatever emphasis, it is difficult to stay away from constraints of knowledge delivery and technique transfer, and thus it is left to purposely aid college enrollment and job opportunities. The looming utilitarianism is opposed to the underlying principle of refining and cultivating the life. Based on the people oriented education, I try to analyze the relationship between fine arts education and life from important values, trace the roots of the life oriented fine arts education values while uncovering the loopholes of current education, clarify the basis and significance of the life oriented education, and tentatively explore ways to this aim. I conclude that the life oriented fine arts education can be achieved through revealing the life values to students, representing the individual life, and creating spiritual pursuit in the fine arts education.
