With a history of five thousand years, China’s traditional culture can notonly reflect the process of our culture, but also the profound culturalconnotation. In the traditional culture of our country, especially the traditionalfestival culture is the most representative. There are22intangible CulturalHeritage in China;"Dragon Boat Festival" is the only one to be included inthe non-material cultural heritage of the Chinese festivals. This means that therepresentativeness of "dragon" culture. Teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage can not only be regarded as a way to teach Chinese to internationalstudents, more importantly it can spread the essence of Chinese traditionalculture to the world.This paper discusses the application of the "dragon" culture into teachingChinese as a foreign language teaching. It will be divided into four parts. Thefirst part discusses the reason why the "dragon" culture is chosen as theChinese traditional festival culture, then analyzes the integration and thedemand of "Dragon Boat Festival” into the in teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage culture. The second part is the comparative analysis of "dragon"culture both at home and abroad. Through the comparison of "dragon" cultureand the culture of "Dragon Boat Festival “between several Asian countriesand those in China, it describes the "dragon" culture’s influence on thewestern countries. Afterwards it puts forward the proposals how teachersshould teach Chinese dragon culture to the students in these areas. The thirdpart is the application of “Dragon Boat Festival" into teaching Chinese as aforeign language, respectively from the origin of the "Dragon Boat Festival",dietary custom, folk custom activities. The fourth part is the strategies of applying "Dragon Boat Festival" into teaching Chinese as a foreign language,mainly from the aspects that the enhancement of the level of teachers ofChinese as a foreign language, the characteristics of the festival for teaching,the divertingness of teaching process, the emphasis of suiting instructions to astudent’s level.The paper has used the method of consulting literature, comparisonanalysis method and observation research methods. Through the applicationof traditional festival culture into teaching Chinese as a foreign language, itaims at teaching students’ basic knowledge of Chinese language,at the sametime offering the chance of experiencing and spreading the "dragon" culture.
