The development of Television Arts and the overall environment of the societywhere it breeds are inseparable. Since the1950s or so till today, the Chinese televisiondocumentary has already toddled by half a century with obvious development.It hasexperienced different periods of politicization, culturalization, humanization andsocialization. No matter from the perspective of topics and text creation, or marketingopproach and channels of transmission, every step of the documentary has witnessed thefar-reaching effect of social environment changes on the development of literature andart,carrying with distinctive mark of age. In January2011, CCTV record channellaunche. In July of the same year, It put up for tender the ceation of programs to thewhole society for first time. Driven by the wheel of history,the documentary finallyoppened to the competitive market. In recent years, the sucessful broadcast ofdocumentaries, such as "A bite of China","toward the ocean","Forbidden City100"verified the deepening of the process of gradual improvement and commercialization ofthe television documentary market mechanism. Unlike other TV art form, televisiondocumentary see truth as its life. At any period, no matter how advanced technicalmeans are, what changes media environment has been through, in which way socialsituation transformed, documentaries and the people who work on this will stick on totheir final battle field-truth. This paper reviews the development process of China’stelevision documentary market, analyses the means how different periods documentaryreflect real world to study the authentic text of the documentary in the context ofmarket-oriented performance, combined with the evolution of technology and thechanges of media backgound to explore the way how the documentaries performed realunder market. From learning how to gian experieces from the successful cases ofauthentical expression of excellent international documentaries, combined with thehistorical mission of the documentary, it comes to a conclusion: With the context ofChina TV documentary continously sticking to deepening market-oriented reforms, the people who work on this should abide by property of authenticity. Deepeningmarketization and adhering to the principle of authentication are indispensable like twowheels of a car, two wings of a bird.
