Chinese language had been confined in Indonesia for30years. It has caused thedisruption of the Chinese language for three generations of Chinese Indonesians. AsChina’s comprehensive national strength enhanced and the cooperation betweenChina and Indonesia strengthened, the detained Chinese education has been back tolife. Over the past decade, Chinese education in Indonesia gradually recovered.Though facing the problems from teachers, teaching materials, funding and studentsources, the recovery is very difficult. The demand for Chinese language teachersincreased dramatically. Solving the problem of lacking Chinese language teachers inIndonesia is required. In recent years, the Chinese educational institutions havecontinuously delivered Chinese teachers to study in China to further improve theteaching quality. Meanwhile, Chinese teachers colleges have been rapidly developingin Indonesia. Cultivating local teachers is an important way to solve the problem.Therefore Chinese teachers colleges play a decisive role in this. In this paper, theauthor carried out an investigation into the teaching situation about Universitas WidyaKartika in Surabaya, Indonesia. The author stated and analyzed current teachingsituations, teachers, curriculums and teaching materials of the college. At the end theauthor made recommendations to the Chinese teachers colleges development inIndonesia.
