With no equivalent one in English,complement is a special syntax component in thecontrast studying of Chinese and English language. Among the seven sub-categories of Chinesecomplements, Result Complement, Degree Complement and Modal Complement are of greatsigniifcance due to their cross-sectional characteristics: the resemblance in syntactic sequence,meanwhile the distinguishing of them should be semantic mining based.By giving the examples from language application and the former research, this articleobserves and studies the sentences with the above mentioned three Chinese complements fromthe perspective of components, structure and semantic types as well as tendential meanings. Bycomparing and analyzing the syntax components of their English translation accordingly, theanalysis is mainly about structure type, syntax function, grammar meaning, language order andcultural mentality, to help us master better the rules of changeability between Chinesecomplement and its English translation, so as to improve our foreign teaching methods onChinese.The ifve chapters of this article are as following:Chapter1Introduction summarizes the grammar system of Chinese and English to revealtheir differences closely related to Complement in morphology and syntax.Chapter2analyses the components, semantic types and tendential meanings of ChineseResult Complement, Degree Complement and Modal Complement.Chapter3characterizes the structure components, syntax functions and tendential meaningsof the above mentioned three types of Chinese complements and their English translation inorder to open out the switching rules.Chapter4inquires the formation of Chinese Complement and the reasons of thesyntax-components switching in the Chinese-English translation.Chapter5concludes the article and mentions the limitation of the research.
