Germany, as a developed western country and a member of the EU, expands itsinvestment in China, and its cooperation projects with China also increased in recentyears. Either the exchanges between two governments or the cooperation of theirenterprises are increasing. Compared with China, Germany has the advantages incapital, techniques and experience of industrial development, and thus China andGermany could draw on each other’s strength and launch friendly cooperation underthe guidance of mutual benefit to promote the world economy jointly. In view of theirdifferent languages, interpretation plays a quite important role in these two countries’cooperation and communications.As an interpreter, the author completed the whole interpretation during thejourney of the inspection of the second phase of Sino-German financial cooperationHunan smallholder afforestation project in April of2012. This is a practice report.First, the details of preparation work is introduced, including collection of references,sort of special items and communication with foreign expert. Then, the author statessome problems he faced in interpretation and lists some typical examples whichinclude misinterpreting and improper dictation caused by unfamiliarity to professionalforestry project words and expressions, sentence structure problems and interpretingomission caused by long sentence and the loss of information respectively. through aspecific analysis and comparison of the original interpretation and the improved ones,this report summarizes coping strategy and techniques for those problems occurred ininterpreting process, including strengthen the pre-interpreting preparation, improvenote-taking and psychological quality, pay attention to improving interpreting skills bylistening, speaking, reading and writing as well as the combination of Skopos theoryand interpreting practice to improve interpreting performance.
