The Report On Translation Of Technological Innovation In World Exposition

With the development of national science and technology, technological textstranslation is a popular text which is also a platform for foreigners to learn aboutChina. And it has become the common objects of translation tasks.This report is based on the Chinese-English translation of Technological Innovationin World Exposition. By reviewing and analyzing the translation process as well asrepresentative cases, the report explores two aspects of such documents: how toachieve precision, readability and communicative goals by determining types andsub-types of the texts and text analysis and how to delicate the translator’s senses ofprofessionalism.The author reveals the goals of the translation task by applying text strategy theoryand text analysis as instrumental theories and detecting the functions and expectedfeatures of the target text. In the process of translation, the author avoids word toword literal translation. Also pays more attention to the translation of technical words,and the strategies to translate sentences such as abbreviation, punctuation mark, andconjunctions. According to the translation problems, some translation cases are listedfor reader’s reference.As the report reveals, a translator should have a comprehensive understanding of thistechnical text and pay great attention to every aspect of the project, so as toaccomplish the task with high standards by taking a comprehensive view of thefunctions and targets of translation, the representation of the original and thesatisfaction of readers’ expectations. It is hoped that this report offers somereferential value for the translation of documents of similar types.
