With China’s rapid economic growth, the number of foreign students has been increasing. In this article, Indonesian students at Anhui University were chosen as subject of investigation to study their adaptation. Counter measures were put forward according to their cross-cultural adaptation problems basing on results acquired byquestionnaires and interviews. The number of Indonesian students is large, which provides reliable grounds for the study.This article consists of four sections. Section one is the abstract, which introduces the background, purpose, significance and methods of this research.Section two is the introduction which is divided into four subsections:different stages of cross-culture adaptation, the main problem encountered in cross culture adaptation, factors influencing cross-culture adaptation, counter measures and proposals.The third section is results and discussion, which adopts the SPSS18.0software package to do statistical analysis of questionnaire data of Indonesian students at Anhui University. The bilingual questionnaires with both Chinese and Indonesian language cover five aspects, namely, basic information, psychological adaptation, daily life adaptation, adaptation of study, adaptation of social life and the basic characteristic of cross culture adaptation abilities of Indonesian students at Anhui University. The study reveals that Indonesian students at Anhui University have higher daily life adaptation skills, after that come the psychological adaptation skills and learning adaptation skills, while they have low social life adaptation skills. The study results also show the factors influencing their adaptation skills include:gender, language skills, prior experience, and life philosophy.The fourth section is counter measure and proposal. Basing on the abovementioned problems, five proposals are put forward:Firstly, students should be well prepared before they study abroad. Secondly, universities should offer more psychological guidance and help. Thirdly, universities should do better in student service. Fourth, students should look to improve their Chinese skills. Lastly, students should participate in activities enhancing their adaptation skills. With these advices in mind, students’adaptation skills can be improved by a large scale.
