The academic monograph is a professional work that studies problems in the field of a science. It plays a very important role in spreading academic thoughts, promoting academic communication, developing scientific progress and so on. Reading the original work is one of the necessary ways to research the science when it originates from a foreign country. Therefore, to translate this kind of work is also very significant.The thesis is based on the translation of books about Health Communication. Health Communication studies many things like the prevention of diseases, physical and mental health etc, which relates to everyone’s life. Health Communication originates from America, but it is still in the initial stage in China. The thesis is based on the translation of a book about Health Communication, so the author looks up some materials about Health Communication so as to have an overall understanding of the science. Then the author translated the Chapter9after reading several chapters.The thesis includes four parts, and the first part is the description of the task, which includes the background and the meaning of the research, brief introduction of the research and literature review. The second part describes the whole process of the task, which includes the introduction of the preparations and review work. The third part is the case analysis, where the author summarizes the problems the author met in translating the work and the solution to these problems on three levels:the word level, the sentence level and the language level. As for the last part, the author summarizes the thesis as a whole.Through the translation practice, the author has some experiences to handle the academic monograph. The thesis analyses its characteristics and the problems about translation, and discusses some strategies and methods to translate this kind of work.
