Interpreters’ priority is to get the message crossed, instead of deliveringword-to-word interpretation. That being said, the interpretation of terminology isunique in the fact that it weighs accuracy over anything, which means interpretershave to come up with the exact terminology in the target language. Based on a casestudy of Nagra Media Meeting2012, the author discusses coping strategies forterminology in consecutive interpreting from four aspects, namely categories ofterminology, preparation strategies, on-site coping tactics and the effect ofterminology management on interpreting output. In particular, the author exploreshow the preparatory work could be managed and verification of material. In the nextchapter of on-site coping tactics, the author analyses measures to be taken if anyproblem should arise in interpreting situations due to gaps in interpreters’ knowledgebase or processing capacity limitations. Given that terminology management hassubstantial effect on interpreting output, the author comes to the conclusion that theissue discussed in this thesis is highly relevant to interpreting practice.
