This report deals with translation of the book Transformation in Teaching:Social Media Strategies in Higher Education co-edited by Catheryn Cheal, JohnCoughlin and Shaun Moore. The translator chooses Chapters16&17as the originaltext. Through samplings within Developmental English and Information Technologycourses and quotation of students’ blogs, the two chapters mainly focus on theapplication of Twitter and Blogger as supportive teaching tools in colleges anduniversities. This report is divided into four chapters: Chapter One is an introductorystatement, including the project background, objective and its significance as well asthe report outline. Chapter Two is an introduction to the original text, including theauthor’s information, the content, the structure and the writing style of the source text.Chapter Three is about translation difficulties and methods. In accordance withReiss’s text typology, the translator uses translation methods such as addition,omission, combination, division and conversion to deal with numerous educationaland IT terminology in the original; additionally, the chapter demonstrates the transferof sentence center in English-Chinese translation resulting from the differencebetween English and Chinese thinking mode. Chapter Four concludes with theenlightenment and problems to be solved.
