The purpose of this paper is to investigate the rationality and the interestingnessof the exercise of the material of elementary Chinese teaching in Indonesia. Throughthe questionnaire survey and the interview, the writer aim to explore more in-depthquestions about the exercise. This paper aim to evaluate the effectiveness of thepractices of these two books through a contrastive analysis of the difference betweenthe two text books《Bahasa Tionghoa Zaman Sekarang》and《Menghayati BahasaMandarin》 which is widely used in Indonesia, and according to the different learningbackgrounds、different learning objective and different learning habit of the students,at the same time, according to the feedback of teaching we can find some problemsabout the exercise so we can make an improvement. This paper uses various researchmethods: listing technique, comparison method,statistical method, induction method,documentation and quantitative analysis method. Through the analysis of thequestionnaire and the interview content, I summarized a conclusion that the studentsin different background、different learning objective and different learning habit needdifferent exercises, and puts forward some suggestions for designing and revising ofelementary textbooks exercises and rich the materials of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage.
