The material of this practice report is the translation of business legal documents accomplished in the translation company. Through the translation of Chinese and English business legal documents, problems exist in the translation are found. Through analysis, these problems can be sorted into three kinds, which is translation is not in accord with the target language expression habit, the semantic meaning of the translation is vague and incoherence, and the deficiency and misuse of modal verb shall. Aiming at the problems, taking the functional equivalence theory as basis and using the principle of be faithful to the original and be intelligible to the public as standard, the author put forward the amplification as the translation strategy for solving the above mentioned problems. Ten thousand words feature professional wording, rigorous structure and long sentence pattern are selected as examples to illustrate the advantages of amplification in the translation of business legal documents which is retaining the text feature and sentence structure to the largest extent while faithfully express the meaning of the original text.
