With the increasing opening degree of China to the outside world, tourism as apillar industry is playing an increasingly important role in China’s economicdevelopment. For foreign visitors, the most direct way to learn about the China’stourist attractions is through reading tourism texts. The2013World Landscape ArtExposition in Jinzhou is the world’s first offshore landscape art exposition, which hasattracted the attention of visitors at home and abroad and has had a positive effect onraising public awareness of Jinzhou and pushing the development of Jinzhou andother coastal cities. But unfortunately, the author failed to find the English version ofthe brief introduction of the Expo when reading its official web site. Therefore, theauthor selected part of the brief introduction, did the translation practice andcompleted the report. The report consists of four parts: task description, task process, case analysis and conclusion. The author believes that the purpose and function of translation should be giventop priority before tourism texts are translated—passing information and realizingvocative function, that is to enable the tourists to derive information from thetranslated texts and advertise tourism as a commodity. Therefore, the author selectedthe Skopos Rule under the Skopos Theory as the theoretical basis. In the process ofreading related literature, the author found that previous researches on tourism textsmainly stay on the choices of domestication and foreignization, or application ofcultural compensation strategy, etc. The author believes that the fundamental reason that causes the failure of tourism text translation is the differences between Chineseand English. Only when the translator can break the chains of the forms of the originalversions and use the restructuring strategy can he/she make the translation reallyaccepted by the readers, so as to realize the communicative purpose of tourism textsand realize the function of popularizing Chinese culture and attracting tourists.
