This is a project report on translation of Industrial Technology: Patent andInnovation.The project’s content involves in the trend and relationship between patentand innovation in industrial biotechnology.The report includes four parts. Part one is theintroduction where the background, objectives and significance of the translation projectas well as the framework of the report are briefed. Part two is concerned with issuesabout the source text, including an analysis of the whole text and a sketch of therelevant background information of the author. Observed in Part Three are the keynotes,the difficulties encountered in the translation process and the corresponding translationmethods employed. Part four is the conclusion summarizing the lessons drawn from thetranslation, the experience gained in carrying out the project and problems needed tosolve in the future.The translation materials are science and technology articles, which features highdegree of objectivity and information completeness, as well as high degree of accuracy.Given the translation difficulties met in the translation project, as well as the languagecharacteristics and article style of the translation project,the translator chooses skopostheory as guidance. Under skopos theory’s guidance, translation difficulties are wellsolved by taking various translation methods, including omission and supplementation,division and combination, semantic correspondence and conversion. |
