A Report On The Translation Of Changing Banking For Good(Volume Ⅰ: Chapter8-9)

This translation project report on Changing Banking for Good is completedbased on the translation of the chapter eight and chapter nine from the first volumeof the original text. This report makes a simple introduction about the relevantinformation of the original text and analyzes its text type and language features.Newmark’s text analysis theory and related translation strategy are used in thetranslation process. The significance of the project lies in improving andstrengthening the relevant government departments and individuals’ capabilities tocope with reform in the banking industry through describing related work done inGreat Britain.This report is divided into four parts: chapter one is the report’s projectintroduction including project background, significance and report structure;chapter two presents the background of the translation project containingtranslation methods and the introduction of the content and the analysis of thesource text; chapter three analyzes translation difficulties and underlines skills usedin the translation process. The source text involves more contents about the fieldsof economics, finance, banking management and so on. It’s certainly difficult totranslate technical terms and vocabularies, and the choice of word meaning andsentence structures are more complicated. Through consulting relevant professionalmaterials, the translator makes a deep analysis about the original text in which thesource contents can be expressed correctly; and applies literal translation, specifictranslation, conversion of part of speech and long sentence segmentation to dealwith the difficulties; chapter four draws a conclusion of the lesson andenlightenment from this translation practice and some problems existing in translator herself.
