This is a translation project report on Controlling Knowledge: Freedom ofInformation and Privacy Protection in a Networked World (Chapter Two). Guided bythe theories of Newmark’s text type and communicative translation used ininformation text, this report mainly handles with different problems of translation andits solutions.This report starts with a brief introduction of the project, including itsbackground, contents and value. It then focuses on the important and difficult parts ofthe project, as well as the methods employed to solve these problems under theprinciple of communicative strategy. Based on the communicative translationprinciple, this project adopted translation methods like explanation and substitution toachieve a natural and smooth translated text. In the end, it briefly describes theexperience gained and lessons learned from this project. The report concludes withthe discussion of the drawbacks of the project in hope of offering a reference for thelater translation activities.
