This report, whose source text(ST) is Developing Cultural Awareness: The Text-Driven Approach as Evidence of a Good Language Teaching Practice. The ST reports a case study, which consists of three stages, respectively are the identification of the problem, a series of class activities designed under TextDriven Approach(TDA), and the implementation of the activities in two classes for three months. When translating the ST, the author meets some terms specialized in language teaching as well as long and complicated sentences. Therefore, this report based on Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory aims to solve the representative key and difficult points in English-Chinese translation. Meanwhile, the translator should give full consideration to the target readers' cultural background, receptivity, reading habits and other factors. The Translator chooses some translation methods, such as free translation, linear translation, inverse translation and division etc. to transfer more accurate and comprehensive information of the ST for the reader, so as to achieve the best effect of the communicative translation and provide reference for the same type of translation practice. This translation project consists of five chapters. Chapter one is a project overview, which is about the project background, purpose, and significance. Chapter two analyses the ST from three aspects, including introduction, the text type and linguistic features. Besides, it makes a brief description of the translation preparation. Chapter three focuses on Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory adopted in this project. Chapter four covers the translation difficulties and methods in this translation project and their enlightenment on this translation project. Examples are given to demonstrate the translation methods, which are discussed in light of the theory above. And Chapter Five summarizes the experience and unsolved problems in this translation project.
