Improving On Consecutive Interpretation At The Press Conference:Based On A Comparative Study On The Translation Of Zhu Rongji Meets The Press And The Interpreters’ On-Site Performance

Based on a comparative study of Zhu Rongji Meets the Press and the on-site performance of the interpreter at the press conference, this thesis studies the differences between the two versions and analyzes external and internal causes of problems in the on-site performance. The author then summarizes strategies that can help improve the on-site performance of consecutive interpretation at the press conference. The thesis also elaborates on the value of written translation for improving interpretation quality.The thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter One will discuss the value, the method and the purpose of the study, as well as relevant studies and thesis perspective.Chapter Two will give a brief introduction on the content, the publisher, editorial staff, and editing process of the book Zhu Rongji Meets the Press, family and education background of the on-site interpreter Zhu Tong, as well as comparison between the standards of translation and interpretation.Chapter Three will take examples to elaborate on the external and internal causes, affecting interpreter’s on-site performance based on a comparative study on the translation of Zhu Rongji Meets the Press and the interpreters’ on-site performance. Chapter Four will list out coping strategies based on the external and internal causes. Chapter Five will summarize the thesis and draw the conclusion.
