In recent years with transformation of the government’s function and improvement of the construction of the service government, the public heighten their expectation of the government and civil servants. Civil servant’s working capacity and working attitude, have a direct bearing on the administrative ability and level of the government.The civil servant at the basic level is the largest group of all civil servants in our country, and they are at lowest supporting part of the civil servant system. They have heavy, numerous and challenging work; their capacities and performance have bearing on the performance of local government. Too much work and higher working pressure easily leads to job burnout. In the past, research on the effective factors of civil servant’ job burnout focus mostly on working pressure, job performance and etc. there is no study refers to the relationship between self-efficacy and job burnout of civil servant at the basic level. This paper is to exam that if self-efficacy predicts job burnout of the civil servant at the basic level by studying relationship between self-efficacy and job burnout of civil servant at the basic level.In this paper,150civil servants at the basic level were investigated using questionnaire of General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS). State and relationship of self-efficacy and job burnout of civil servant at the basic level were studied; the results were listed as follows:1. Self-efficacy of civil servant at the basic level stayed in the higher level. The index of married status showed a significant difference between the single group and the married group on self-efficacy of civil servant at the basic level. Self-efficacy of the single group was better than it of the married group. Difference of Self-efficacy on other demographic variables was non-significant.2. Job burnout of civil servant at the basic level stayed in lower level. There were significant differences in the dimension of sex, age, executive ladder and the nature of the work in terms of low personal accomplishment of civil servant at basic level. Other dimensions on different demographic variables were non-significant.3. There were significant correlations among the dimension of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization low personal accomplishment of self-efficacy and job burnout of civil servant at the basic level.4. Self-efficacy predicted job burnout of the civil servant at the basic level.
