The Expectation Research Of The Minority Floating Population’s Community Integration

With the accelerated process of China’s reform and opening up and urbanization,the trend that the minority population flows into urban cities is increasing year by year,which leads to an increasing number of urban minorities. Such as Wuhan, the minorityfloating population had been gradually increasing since1990s. According to the surveyof1999, the number of minority floating population was80to100thousand, which farexceeded the permanent minority population in Wuhan. The minorities who have gotteninto the cities are mostly from impoverished rural areas, and they are a special groupwith differences from Han nationality in language, religion, customs and other aspects.The problems existing in minority floating population are more complex than the onesin general floating population due to their own property issues. With the increasing ofminority floating population and expanding range of activities, the cities are facingmore difficulties of the ethnic work. To promote the integration of the minority floatingpopulation and the urban society, the government must pay much attention to theintegration of their communities.During the process of urbanization, the problems of minority floating population’sintegration had been concerned by a large number of relevant departments and scholars.To study the expectation of the community integration can enhance mutualunderstanding of minority floating population and community residents, which canmake community residents understand their religious beliefs, customs, language,achieving the aim that minority floating population and community residents live inharmony, and jointly promote community integration.This paper is a special research based on the school’s innovation fund subjectapplied by the project team. From the point of the expectation of integration, throughthe research of minority floating population in Wuhan, this paper gives an analysis ofexpectation of these minorities floating population in the community integrationprocess.The main idea is through questionnaires and field investigation, by designing thequestionnaire survey involving the minority floating population’s expectation ineconomy, society, culture and psychological issues and community questionnairecorresponding to their expectations at the same time, to investigate the attitude of the community residents corresponding to the their expectation. Then got related data andanalyzed which aspects they had strong expectation on community integration, to findout the existing problems when compared with the attitude of the community residents.Combined with the attitude and view of the local community to these minorities, thispaper makes specific analysis for the difficulties and problems during integration andfinds practical intervention methods in social work aspect to meet the expectation ofminority floating population, thus to promote minority floating population’s communityintegration and the great national unity.
