Yijun Dialect Vocabulary And Transitional Characteristics

Yijun county is located in the north of Tongchuan city, the central of shaanxi province. It borders on Huangling county to the west and north, Luochuan county to the east, Baishui county and Yintai district, which belongs to Tongchuan city to the south. It connects norhtern Shaanxi with Guanzhong area. The area is1513square kilometers,which has six towns and three townships, includes178administrative villages. YIjun dialect belongs to the Guanzhong cluster of zhongyuan mandarin.Tongchuan dialect is divided into Luo area cluster and Wei area cluster in Rugang’s work named study of Weibei Dialect(Tongchuan area) and Yang yinmei’s thesis named Study of Tongchuan Dialect. Yijun dialect is part of the former.However, there is not any specialized study on Yijun dialect by now except a very few of thesises. Yijun dialect almost becomes a blank in the field of the dialect research.There are29initials including the zero initial in Yijun dialect,and40finals including the er-suffixed final,and4base tones. It analyzes the phonetic characteristic in Yijun dialect on the basis of the phonetic system.In Yijun dialect’s vocabulary system, it describes the total of3201vocabularies which were investigated. They can be divided into29kinds and they are astronomy,geography,time,agriculture,plant,animal,architecture,tool,appellation,relative s,body,illness,and medicine, clothing,food,marriage and funeral, daily life,lawsuit, communication, business and transportation, culture and education, entertainment,action, location, pronoun, adjective, adverb and preposition, numeral. In addition, four word, proverb,idiom and slang are included on the form of word document in Yijun dialect.The formation of Yijun dialect is mainly overlap and affix,which includes the nouns like "AA, AAB, ABB, AABB ",the verbs like "AA, AABB", the adjectives like"AA-Er, AABB, ABAB "the adverbs like "AA, AA-Er", as well as the prefix like"Ge,Ri",the suffix like "Zi,Tou".the structure of "V+Ren,A+Ren".There are some internal differences in Yijun dialact vocabularies. In terms of regions, it mainly performs in three regions:in the northeast where is primarily loess tableland and in the southwest where is primarily mountain land and in the county center..So it can be divided into tableland words, mountainous words and county words. This paper respectively investigates and compares with Yaosheng town, Qipan town and Chengguan town. We find there is difference in Yijun dialect but the similarity is greater than the difference from the comparison. In addition, Yijun dialect vocabulary compares with the guanzhong dialect and northern Shaanxi dialect.It reveals the relationship of Yijun dialect with the vicinity dialects,namely, it has strong ties with Guanzhong dialect,while the relationship with northern Shaanxi dialect is less strong.In one word,Yijun dialect has the transtional characteristic from north to south.
