The vocabulary of Chinese is very large and its classification is detailed. Comparing with notional words of Chinese, function words of Chinese are less than notional words. It has no real meaning, and it is too difficult for foreign students’ study. Objective preposition is a kind of function words, although not a big amount, they are more important and frequent used by foreign students. When they are learning objective prepositions, it is easy to make errors.So this essay will compare the objective preposition in Chinese and in English, and specially analyze the using errors of the preposition which are caused by the foreign students whose mother tongue is English. At the same time this paper will detailed describe the error phenomena of using preposition and summary the type of the error of using preposition. So it will make us find out the laws and causes of the error for using preposition, and help the objective preposition teaching for foreign students and the edition of teaching material.This essay is based on interlanguage theory and error analysis theory, and it is also based on HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus from Beijing Language and Culture University, combined with the characteristics of objective prepositions of "on","about","with" and analyze the errors are made by foreign students whose mother tongue is English, summarizes the kinds of errors, analyzes these errors, seek the causes of them, in order to find the countermeasure.
