When foreign students study the modern Chinese prepositions, they may appear all kinds of errors. As widely used and similar meanings, prepositions of cause and prepositions of purpose become frequent errors of prepositions. In this paper, we investigate meanings of prepositions of cause "y I n wei","you","you yu" and prepositions of purpose " wei "," wei le", and detailed analyze the similarities and differences between words in every kind of prepositions. The author used the resource in the HSK dynamic composition corpus, collected a large number of errors made by foreign students in learning prepositions of cause and prepositions of purpose, using error analysis theory on each preposition example, then put forward solving strategies on the basis of detailed analysis.In general, errors made by foreign students in learning prepositions of cause and prepositions of purpose can be divided into the following types:overrepresentation, redundancy, omission, mixing and composite errors. The five prepositions "y I n wei","you","you yu"," wei "," wei le" have the same types of errors are overrepresentation, redundancy, omission and mixing. The prepositions of purpose " wei "," wei le" appear the phenomenon of composite errors. From the ontology and teaching research, the writing of the textbooks and reference books, angles of teaching and angles of learning, we explain the error reasons of foreign students in learning prepositions of cause and prepositions of purpose. In order to reduce errors and improve the quality of teaching Chinese as a second language, we put forward some countermeasures from four angles:comprehensive ontology research of preposition, pay attention to comparative analysis of Chinese and foreign languages, improve the quality of textbooks and reference books and improve teaching effect.These studies have positive theoretical and practical significance for the acquisition and teaching research of Chinese as a second language, and also have certain inspiration to the acquisition and teaching research of other prepositions in Chinese.
