The research of Ci probably started from the mid Northern Song Dynasty, when Ci was in aperiod of prosperity. About the research scope, Long Yusheng pointed out that tonetics, critics,and bibliography three aspects in his work The Discussion about study of Ci. Tonetics includesthe research of Cidiao, rhythm of Ci and Cipu; Study on the critical theories includes commentson writers, their works, and word history; bibliography is the study of CI literature. About thestudy of the history of Ci, people are more concentrated in the criticism, but pay less attention totonetics. But the meter of Ci in China also is an important aspect of rules and forms of classicalpoetic composition. Some work discussed the meter, focused on the generalization of Cipu.Although their influence should be acknowledged, they were one-sided and incomplete, sincethey only focused on masterpieces. In addition, the works in the collection of Cipu were eithertoo few or too complex. The article is a research of the works of ninety-four words to ninety-fivewords exhaustively in Quan Song Ci. It also analyzes these works from the point of view ofrhyme,level and oblique tones. It summarizes the characteristic of their parts, explore theirrhyming rules and tonal patterns, and sum up their rhythm formats and change forms tosupplement the research about Chinese poetry theory in this field.In the study of rhythm, this paper will adopt research method, inductive method, andstatistical method to summary of the law of different circumstances of Ci.As to the selection of materials, this paper collects the works in the book Quan Song Ci,which was edited by Tang Gui-zhang and Kong Fanli.At the same time, it will supplement theseworks with the Selections of Songci, The Revised Quan Songci with Detailed Notes, and TheSupplement of Quan Songci. We find every words’ initials, finals and tones according toGuangyun and The Handbook of Old Chinese Phonology. According to the meaning of thesecharacters in the context, we select its most proper pronunciation, which is based on Guangyunand ShuoWenJieZi.This paper consists of five parts: Introdution, a brief summary of metrical lyrics, theanalysis of specific Cipu formats, the analysis of specific poems rhyme,and the epilogue. Thepart Introdution introduces the general study of Ci, includes the results of previous, reconstructsresearch methods of this article, specifies operation steps,and establish the standard. The secondpart introduces knowledgeable in Ci, such as Cidiao, rhythm of Ci, and Cipu, etc. The third part is the main part of this paper. With detailed statistics, we analyze and study eight Cipais and onethousand and fifty-two Ci poems in Quan Song Ci, which includes the introduction of Cipai, thegeneral condition,and the systematic analysis, summary and other aspects.Though detailed research and analyses, we conclude that the word number of Cipus is in thecoverage from ninty-four to ninty-five. It will be systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.
