Research And Analysis Of Chinese Study In Japan Of The21st Century

Since21st century, China has achieved rapid development and integrated into the world.In this context, it becomes more meaningful and valuable to make Chinese research.Therefore, it is also more and more popular to study China. Japan paid more attention tostudying China since ancient time. It is meaningful to understand how Japan study Chinanowadays and what the characteristic of its study on China is.Aiming at studying the research result gained in the21st century, this paper mainlyexplores three major organizations selected from the Japanese research institutions throughfive methods such as survey, data lists, literature analysis, statistical method and comparativeanalysis. The three major organizations are The Sinological Society of Japan, The JapanAssociation for Modern China Studies, NIHU Contemporary Chinese Area Studies.According to the research result of the three organizations between2000and2012, this papercarries on research from five aspects that are research field, research content, researchmethods, researchers and application of research findings.Mainly focusing on traditional fields such as Chinese literature, philosophy, andlinguistics, The Sinological Society of Japan has the trend with systematic study, largenumber of carriers and emphasizing empirical research. The Japan Association for ModernChina Studies has the characteristics with wide research fields, strong pertinence and reality.Combines the features of The Sinological Society of Japan and The Japan Association forModern China Studies, NIHU Contemporary Chinese Area Studies not only has wide researchfields and large number of researchers, but also its content pays more attention to socialproblems. More important, it emphasizes empirical research and explores methodology ofChinese study.Through the analysis above, it can be concluded that Japan’s study on China of21stcentury possesses the following characteristics: wide fields (both traditional study andpractical problems), interdisciplinary, strong pertinence (pay attention to practical problems ofChinese society), large number of researchers, careful research methods, emphasis on empirical research and application of research results.By this study, we can learn and grasp China status and social problems in others’ eyes,which can provide a reference to solve these problems. In addition, Japanese research onChina can get great inspiration on the basis of this study.
