Sciential economy and telematics developing as well as international exchange increasing continuously lead a heavy demand on excellent English talents. People are paying more attention on basic English education. However, teacher’s quality is a bottleneck of further development of English teaching.The definition of the special quality of English teacher in middle school hasn’t got a final conclusion, while a new round of curriculum reform brings a new content to it, therefore a series of investigation are provided. Based on the researches of the special quality of teacher, the requirement of new curriculum reform, physical and mental characteristics of middle school students and specificity of English teaching in the middle school, this study expatiates three aspects of the special quality of English teacher, which are special knowledge, special skill and ability, and special attitude and personality.This study designs questionnaires based on literature reviews and related issues, conducts a sample survey for the middle school English teachers in Hangzhou and attempts to analyze the data of these questionnaires, and then provides some suggestions on how to enhance teachers’special quality, including expanding sources of teacher resources, reforming the curriculum, reinforcing in-service training and encouraging education and research development.Finally, this study constructs a theoretical model on the special quality of English teacher in middle school which aims at how to choose a suitable didactical project by applying Analytic Hierarchy Process, and some cases are presented to illustrate this model.
