With the all-round implementation of the Outline of Basic Education Curriculum Reform (try-out) issued by the Ministry of Education and the promotion of curriculum reform, curriculum resources which are considered to be a significant concept and research field have gradually attracted the attention of teachers, educators and teaching researchers. It is increasingly recognized that curriculum resources are the prerequisite of curriculum, that rich and diverse curriculum resources lay the foundation and ensure the implementation of the new curriculum. They are also fundamental to promoting the revolution of teaching methods, the development of teachers’career and students’ all-round development that are advocated in the new curriculum. The performance of curriculum objectives depends on the diversity and appropriateness of the curriculum resources. Without a vast of diverse curriculum resources, the new curriculum reform is nothing but a concept and ideal. Without a vast of diverse curriculum resources, however bright the new curriculum reform may be, it is nothing but a conception that can hardly be converted into practical education effects.As for the subject of Politics in senior high schools, many teachers and teaching staff are enthusiastically trying to develop and utilize curriculum resources with quite a lot of achievements, but there still exist some obvious problems. For instance, influenced by traditional thoughts and exam-oriented education, some teachers with out-dated ideas are not well aware the importance of developing and utilizing curriculum resources, nor are they quite capable of doing this. Other problems include developing and utilizing curriculum resources in a single aspect, staying in a superficial level by simply collecting data, displaying materials and relaxing examples; simply attaching importance to the development and utilization of the resources within school while ignoring enormous resources outside school which results in serious resource lying idle and wasted; the development and utilization of curriculum resources lacking due attention of relevant departments and necessary insurance and supervision. Therefore, it is of great significance to promote the sound and orderly progress of the curriculum reform, particularly developing and utilizing curriculum resources on Politics efficiently in senior high school by finding ways to change the traditional monotonous teaching pattern of focusing on textbooks, teachers’handbook and exercises, to increase Politics teachers’ teaching efficiency and quality by breaking the narrow education concepts and teaching contents, and to make students actively engaged in the subject and class teaching and tap their potential and widen their cognitive channels.Through perusing a great amount of literature, research and interview, analysis and the author’s own observance and practice, the author proposes some methods and strategies of effectively developing and utilizing curriculum resources of Politics in senior high school so as to assist teaching Politics on the basis of the concepts of curriculum resources of Politics and the role and significance of developing and utilizing curriculum resources. This thesis consists of four parts, with the first part introducing the problem and research method and frame, the second part elaborating the concepts, classification and significance of curriculum resources of Politics in senior high school, the third part analyzing the status qua and necessity of developing and utilizing curriculum resources of Politics in senior high school in China, the last part proposing effective methods and strategies to solve the problem posed in part three.
