This paper preliminarily analyzed the problems of composition teaching in ruralarea of Shanghai. The main reasons for the problems of composition teaching havebeen deeply explored are as follows: in daily teaching composition, teachers paid toomuch attention to teach writing skills instead of focusing on students subjectiveexperiences of learning. Teachers neglected to instruct students to effectivelyobserve, accumulate, explore, select the source material, and neglected to teachhow to get these materials systemically combined together. Therefore, theachievement of composition teaching is not significantly enhanced.To teach composition teaching effectively, author learned humanistic thought,the theory of “Zone of Proximal Development”, and "information processing". Theauthor also combined these theory with a school courses system which includesschool-based curriculum course and four sets of school culture activities ("May1st"Labor Skill Day, and "Jun1st" Children Art Day, and "November1st" Diabolo CultureDay, and New Year Campus Sports Day) in School of Loutang (Jiading District,Shanghai) for preliminary exploration of composition teaching in the rural area ofShanghai. It is important to focus on students’ status as the main body of teaching,helping students to build up the ability of observation and to learn imagination andassociation in the process of observation. It is also necessary to guide students toaccumulate useful writing materials in school-based curriculum course, and to selectappropriate writing materials through comparison. In this way, students couldexpress their idea smoothly, and writing inspiration could be stimulated. Meanwhile,exhibiting students writing by multimedia can help students to increase the interestof writing.In this process, student will gradually learn how to observe based on their ownexperiences, how to feel with their heart, how to understand the deep and uniquewith their feelings, and then they can express feeling in their own way. This methodof teaching is much more worthwhile than that of simple and indiscriminateimitation. To sum up, composition teaching combined with school-based curriculumcourse is an effective way to help student to stimulate the curiosity and enhance thespirit of learning, and to cultivate the students’ innovative spirit and practical abilities,releasing the students personalities, so that they become interested in writing,thereby, obtaining a source of lifelong development, energy, and perseverancetowards their potential.
