The new curriculum reform being carried out in our cuntory lays emphasia onthe development of syudents’ personalities as well as the promotion of their overallquality, going against the old teaching approach, which dominated students’ thinkingby imbuing them mechanically with what they were supposed to learn. As away ofteaching, situational education refers to a new educational concept distinguishedfrom the old tradional one, which focused on the were presention of classroomknowledge to students. Thus, the practice of situational teaching in the primaryschool’s musical lessons in the form of singing and games accord with the theory ofconstructive learning. The course of singing and games is a form of musical teachingmainly aimed for young pupils who have just completed pre-schooling and who aregoing to receive primary education. Its most stricking feature lies in promoting theindividual development of students’ personalities ane characters, creating a pleasantand relaxing environment for them to learn through play. Therefore, situationalteaching has become a most important way in offering this course. However, as aresult of some existing difference of some teachers in understanding the course, asinging-game class sometimes might be viewed as were form of showing oneselfinstead of an important role it plays in cultivating students’ read interest in music. So,we educators should get rid of the one-sided point of view toward situationalteaching, endeavour to dig deep into its essence of teaching, research into itseffective classroom practice, and, with our combined efforts, get situational teachingback on track.
