As a necessary and an important part of the quality-oriented educational system, the importance of art education becomes well known with the implement of the quality-oriented system and the continous improvement of our society. Although art education has attracted public attention and developed a lot, there still remains some factual problems. One of the problems is the teachers’professional development. The teaching effect of the art teachers remains the same level and doesn’t improve. And the resource of the art teachers flows away intangibly. Some of them may get tired of art teaching. Furthermore, art teachers are not steady, some of them even quit their job and go in for business when they just work a short time. All the factors above seriously affect the construction of the art teachers, which is not beneficial to the continous and normal development of art education.Good knowledge and ability ensure both the teachers’educational and scientific study and the improvement of the teaching quality. The thesis studies the art teachers in primary school of Yanbian Prefecture. Based on the statistics of the questionnaire, it investigates the state and the causes of the professional development of the art teachers. At last, the thesis comes up with solutions accordingly.The thesis falls into four chapters.The first part is the preface including the raise of the problems, the literature review of the professional development of the art teachers, the aims and significance of this research, the basic theories and methods as well as some relative concepts.The second chapter mainly deals with the ways and present situations of the professional development of the art teachers. It includes the design and implement of the research, the ways and present situations of the professional development of the art teachers as well as the development of professional knowledge of the art teachers.The third chapter analyzes the effect of the professional development ways on the development of professional knowledge of the art teachers in terms of pre-service, post-service and self-development.The fourth part are the conclusion and suggestions.The thesis draws the following conclusions.(1)All the items of the pre-service and post-service ways of traning have a close relationship with the normal knowledge that the art teachers master. But the level of the relativity is not high. It shows that people concern less about the future teachers’professional knowledge whatever it is pre-service or post-service training.(2) The ways of pre-service training, post-service training and self-development have an apparent relationship with the knowledge of education theories, curriculum theories and the subject. Especially in the pre-training and self-development part, most of the items and the teaching knowledge have more than0.01relativity.(3) In pre-training and post-training, the relationship is apparent between some items and the teaching knowledge primary school art teachers master. It shows that pre-training and post-training fuctions less on the primary art teachers’mastering the knowledge.
