High school stage education has been playing a vital role in connecting the preceding and the following education and has important influence on training students’ basic quality and healthy personality. In our country, the high school education is almost a binary structure formed by general education and vocational education. The separating condition of general education and vocational education has dissevered the development of high school students in a certain extent. In high school stage, every student from a regular high school or a secondary vocational school needs to learn general culture knowledge, and all have to face the career life in the future. The integration of general education and vocational education is designed to walk away from the limitations of the separating condition of general education and vocational education, and let students to receive general education and also vocational education in order to obtain a more comprehensive development.From the connotation of integrating general education and vocational education, general education absorbing the content of vocational education and vocational education enhancing general education in their development process are both belong to integration of general education and vocational education. According to the trend of social development, high school education condition will change from binary structure formed by separated general education and vocational education to ternary structure formed by general education, vocational education and integration of two kinds of education,and then become unitary structure only formed by integration of general education and vocational education. According to specific forms to integrate between general education and vocational education, it can be classified into three types:to integrate between schools; to integrate in one school; two kinds of education to integrate as a whole. From the value of the realization of integrating general education and vocational education, it mainly can be divided into the value to society and to students. The value to society mainly includes four aspects:it is conducive to the improvement of the high school education system in our country; it is conducive to improve population quality; it is conducive to the development of social economy; it is conducive to promote social justice. The value to students is mainly reflected in three aspects:it can prevent some students from setting the development orientation too early; it can promote students to get all-round development; it can promote students to obtain adaptable development. In the perspective of historical analysis, integration of general education and vocational education can be trace back to the late Qing dynasty, and the middle school set under the new policy at that time had an obvious purpose to integrate. Till now, although national policy provides support to the integration of general education and vocational education, there are few schools in this school-running model. This type education just has a rather small proportion in the whole high school education, and the binary structure formed by separated general education and vocational education hasn’t been changed. From the perspective of comparative study, USA, UK, Japan and Taiwan region have accumulated lots of experience on achieving the integration of general education and vocational education, and they have formed their own characteristics:USA has established a perfect model of comprehensive high school; UK has developed the distinctive integrating certificate system; Japan has formed mature model based on integrating disciplines; Taiwan has constructed the unimpeded college enrollment channel for integrating general education and vocational education.In conclusion, to achieve the integration of general education and vocational education in the high school stage must be based on our country’s present situation. As far as right now, there are some crucial problems our country faced with realizing the integration of general education and vocational education:the notion of education that pay attention to general education and neglect vocational education impedes its development; the current college enrollment system goes against its propulsion; it is difficult to meet these requirements to realize it like teacher resources and teaching facilities. Facing the actual situation and drawing lessons from some countries and one region’s experience, our country can focus efforts in the following fields:firstly, to construct high school education system having multiple paths for integrating general education and vocational education; secondly, to implement the certificate system of integrating general education and vocational education in the high school stage; thirdly, to build up the unimpeded college enrollment channel adjusted with integrating general education and vocational education in the high school stage; fourthly, to set up classes about integrating general education and vocational education and promote comprehensive high school system; fifthly, to improve on the effective cooperation in running school of integrating general education and vocational education between different subjects; sixthly, to construct curriculum group of integrating general education and vocational education and make the most of existed technology curriculum which regular high schools have.
