The new curriculum reform demonstrates a totally new education thought. When itcomes to chemistry education, it is not simply the increase or the decrease of theeducation contents, but is the systematic project on reform in education notion,curriculum institution, curriculum content, curriculum evaluation and curriculummanagement. In practice of curriculum reform, the close relationship between reformand teachers’quality is visible, Teachers’ quality is essential to curriculum reform.Therefore it is significant to pay close attention to teachers’ professional qualities. Or wecan say it is the basic assurance of quality education. Chemistry is an important subjectin basic education. In order to adapt the demands of the new century, chemistry teachersshould possess better qualities than before. So it is significant to research the chemistryteacher s’qualities possess in new curriculum reform.Based on reading large quantities of documents and thinking about what qualitiessenior middle school chemistry teacher should possess, the author makes a survey onthe professional qualities of chemistry teacher in senior middle school in Dumont.Based on the survey results, the author analyzes the existing problems and reasons ofchemistry teachers quality in junior middle school, and put forward the suggestions. Thewriter hopes the article can promote teachers to get used to the new curriculum reformrapidly. And the writer also hopes the article can become the reference to the teacherswho are eager to make a further research.
