Chinese reading is an important part of Chinese study. For primary students, in terms of class reading teaching or extracurricular independent reading, it is a beneficial approach for Chinese knowledge accumulation, thought development, as well as idea enhancement. Researches have showed that extracurricular reading plays a positive role in Chinese reading. Especially for the third grade primary students, after the accumulation of Chinese basic knowledge in junior grade, their interests of Chinese world have aroused gradually, it is feasible and necessary for them to expose a certain amount and kinds of reading materials. This research is based on the special considerations for the third grade primary students’ Chinese studying level and its position during the whole stages of primary school, which selected the author’s hometown, Taoyuan County, Hunan Province, furthermore, concentrating on one of the best primary school in Qihe Country, named Qihe Center Primary School. I personally research the third grade students’Chinese reading situation mainly by observation and interview, finally draw the following conclusions by analysis.Firstly, Reading teaching and extracurricular reading are inseparable, independent as well as mutually contributed parts in Chinese reading. Reading teaching attaches high importance to the imparting of reading methods, development of reading ability. While, extracurricular reading should serve as a useful supplement for class reading. In order to promote students’level of reading, teachers should teach good reading lessons, more importantly, place emphasis on extracurricular reading.Secondly, students for different ages have different points of reading teaching focuses, even the characters of different students for the same stage are diversified. Thus, teachers should pay attention to this diversity of students’learning stages and individual development, set reasonable and pertinent reading targets for students within "zone of proximal development". Meanwhile, teachers should emphasis on the practicality of the methods of reading teaching, especially should not overlook the significant function of "reading" during reading training in middle grades students.Thirdly, the outstanding problem to extracurricular reading in rural areas is the difficult problem to left-behind students. One the one hand, it is responsible for their limitation of the economic conditions. On the other hand, is the lacking of family education, it is very hard for parents to offer efficient guidance of reading for their children, hence severely limits the student’s reading scopes and improvement of reading’s quality. Other problem reflects on adverse effects in a negative environment for students to read, for example, have a utilitarian reading purpose, a reading tendency like "fast food","recreational","low and vulgar", also, dealing with the relationship of extracurricular reading and other subjects.Lastly, there are many factors affect the third grade primary students’ successful anticipated reading teaching, as well as their positive and efficient extracurricular reading in rural areas. Moreover, we are facing complicated realities and difficult tasks, so we should make efforts from different aspects and multiple levels. In terms of schools and families, we can commence on creating good reading environment, providing excellent reading materials, teaching kinds of reading methods and skills,...
