Chinese Language Curriculum Criterion demands that students' extracurricular reading amount is not less than 1.45 million words at the primary stage.The schools emphasizes for cultivating students' reading interests extensively,expanding their reading range and increasing their reading quantity.The school strengthens the students' extracurricular reading instruction and carries out various extracurricular reading activities.The schools should create opportunities for communication and create a good reading atmosphere.Chinese Extracurricular reading helps students access to getting information,understanding the world,and developing intelligence.It is an important way access to aesthetic experience.Based on the study of previous research,the article takes the middle and high grade students of 5 rural primary schools in Chengxian County,Longnan City,Gansu Province as the research object.Through the form of questionnaires and interviews,it researches the five rural primary school students in the language of extracurricular reading.The results show that the five rural primary school students have less extracurricular reading,and the way of extracurricular reading is single.What's more,the purpose of extracurricular reading has some utilitarianism.Parents and teachers have less guidance on extracurricular reading and the students in rural schools are lack of good Extracurricular reading atmosphere.Based on the status,the main reason,for which extracurricular reading of rural primary school students have some questions,is mainly from the parents,teachers and students on the concept of extracurricular reading.I will explore the reasons which impact the rural primary school students to read from parents,teachers and peer behavior,as well as social environment.Through the analysis of the reasons,I will put forward some suggestions: first of all,parents,teachers and students need to change the concept of utilitarian about extracurricular reading,and they should take extracurricular reading as a self-promotion activities.Secondly,we should stimulate students' extracurricular reading,which can be through the provision of questions,reading together,and organizational activities.Teachers should give the timelylanguage reading instructions for students so that they can experience more fun in extracurricular reading.Finally,schools,teachers and parents should create a rich scholarly atmosphere for students.
