| With the development of our society,English teaching in primary schools has been concerned by all circles of society and is still marching to an optimal development.Yet there’s still a certain gap between the urban area and the rural area.In order to balance the development of compulsory education,the teachers exchange project turned out to be an important way to achieve the goal.In September 2015,the author left S school in the town for M school in the countryside to assist their English teaching.English classes started from grade 1 since 2007 in C city,however,due to series of factors,there’s been a phenomenon of low efficiency despite of much teaching time,teachers tended to emphasize listening and speaking whereas reading and writing were not equally treated,which resulted the students’ poor ability of reading and writing.It is pointed out in the English curriculum that “Language skills is a crucial part of language using which mainly consists of listening,speaking,reading and writing and a comprehensive using of them all.” In practical teaching,it’s our obligation to consider how to follow the principal of “Reading and writing follows listening and speaking.” how to cultivate the students’ good learning habits,how to promote their reading and writing skills,so as to improve the teaching quality in reading and writing.Since 2009,the author started the practice of “reading-assisted writing” which aimed to improve students’ writing ability under the basis of their out-class reading.This is proved to be efficient and has been popularized in the whole school.Then we’ve seen the students’ interest in learning English gradually rising,and the students’ performance in reading and writing has been ranked in the forefront in the reading research papers designed by the city education department.During my stay in M school,I found that the students’ writing ability there was far lower than that of S primary school,thus I had a strong desire to refine my teaching experience into high-quality educational resources to better the English teaching in rural primary schools.And I also wanted to verify my teaching experience through scientific method,make it rise to the general law and to make it happen in M school.As the classes I taught in M school were high grades,so I did some research on the relation between reading and writing of high-grade students in rural primary schools.In this paper,the literature method,questionnaire survey method,experimental method,and interview method are combined together,Chosen the rural M primary school as the research object and S primary school as the reference object,we investigated the current situation of primary school students’ Extracurricular English reading and writing,we also carried out the teaching reform experiment in one of the high-grade classes in M school to strengthen the extracurricular reading teaching.The full text is divided into four parts: the first part discusses the background,purpose,research status,literature review,and research methods of this topic;The second part discusses the definition of related concepts and the necessity of carrying out the research on the level of English reading and writing in rural primary school;The third part is the current situation and analysis of the rural primary English reading and writing level and the experiment process of the study on the correlation between English reading and writing level of high-grade students in rural primary school;with a comprehensive analysis of the real data and interview materials;The fourth part is aimed at the survey results,combing the problems and achievements of the rural primary school English reading and writing;It also puts forward some suggestions to improve the teaching of English reading and writing level in rural primary school.The purpose of this study is to arouse more primary school English teachers to study the primary school English extracurricular reading and writing,to explore teaching together and to obtain more and better effective methods. |
