Thought experiment is not only the very important part of high school subject of physicsfor studying, but also a very important scientific method, which plays an irreplaceable role indevelopment of physics. Having a profound knowledge of thought experiment and applying itfor physics teaching is significant for students to develop intelligence, create capability ofimagining and creative thinking. This paper is to form a practically applicable high schoolphysics thought experiment theory through studying thought experiment.This text has chapters briefed as follows:First, the connotation and basic specifications of thought experiment are given inChapter One in conjunction with explanation of thought experiment in field of Philosophicalmethods.Second, it is given epistemology value and aesthetic value in Chapter Two, which arenot only the value of thought experiment itself, but also the crucial importance and the reasonof application of thought experiment in physics teaching.Third, in this section, it is studied the basis of application of thought experiment inphysics teaching. Thought experiment is supposed to be used in physics teaching and isavailable with the theory foundation.Then, on the basis of above theory, it is given the example of application of thoughtexperiment. Application of thought experiment is studied on such parts as summarizingphysics laws, founding physics concept, solving objects problem, assisting physicsexperiment.At last, in the part of conclusion, it is an objective remark and summary on the researchresult and some shortcomings of this paper.
