| It is the responsibility of school principals to build an effective school culture as it always savesas unwritten school rules which lead school member to work willingly, create a unique identityof a certain school together with shaping the daily interaction and functions of all schoolmembers. This study focused on the effects and roles of transformational school leadershipapproach towards building a positive school culture in junior secondary schools in Changchun.The conceptual framework used in this study depicts that transformational school leaders canalways create a positive school culture through developing shared goals and objectives withtargeted school values, attitudes and beliefs which in turns shapes the daily behaviors and actionsof members of the school together with raising their motivation and morality to high level.This study used survey research design, so questionnaires and interviews were the instrumentsof data collection and therefore both qualitative and quantitative data were collected. The sampleof145participants from2junior secondary schools in Changchun city was used in this study.The findings show that developing strong shared sense of purpose with targeted school’s values,attitudes and beliefs by all school members, demonstrating high moral standards and avoidingunnecessary use of power and together with creating a climate of high sense of school’sexpectations to teaching staff, students and parents were pointed as the major functions andbehaviors of transformational school leadership toward building a positive school culture.However according to results the school principals must encourage freedom of expression andalso provide enough knowledge about school culture among school members as the ways toimprove more effective school culture. |
